A kids coding academy thought it needed badges. The real leak was a login a nine year old could not open alone.
What was built
A kids coding academy in McKinney, Texas was losing children to a locked door. Their accounts lived behind a parent’s email and password, so a nine year old could not practise on a Tuesday unless mum sat down to log him in. We designed a picture password sign in with no keyboard, a kid mode built around one big continue tile, a calm parent portal that answers the is my kid doing anything question in eight seconds, and an owner view that surfaces the kids going quiet.
